Toshiba Materials Co., Ltd. participates in environmental preservation activities as a member of the Toshiba Yokohama Complex both as a committed member of the Toshiba Group and as a concerned citizen.

Toshiba Yokohama Complex Environment Policy

Operations at the Toshiba Yokohama Complex cover a diverse range of activities, from the manufacture and supply of materials, including metals and chemicals, to the research and development of leading-edge environmental engineering.

The complex is also home to the Nuclear Energy Division's engineering operations. In these circumstances, the Yokohama Complex has positioned environmental protection as a principal managerial theme and seeks to develop and manufacture environmentally conscious products. The Yokohama Complex works to contribute to society and makes continuous efforts for a better environment.

1. We evaluate the environmental impact of the Yokohama Complex's activities and of the products that we manufacture. We subsequently define objectives and targets that are technologically and economically feasible and promote environmental protection activities to realize these targets. We also conduct constant examination of our objectives and targets in the light of results achieved and encourage all personnel to commit to these, so as to achieve consistent environmental progress.
2. We observe all environmental protection laws and other measures to which the Yokohama Complex has agreed. We will also promote a high level of environmental protection in our own managerial standards.
3. We promote the following activities in order to reduce the environmental impacts of our organization activities.
   
   1. The adoption of inverters in products, and the introduction of energy-efficient products; the promotion of energy efficiency and reduced power consumption by adherence to our in-house standards
   2. Recycling of waste paper and plastics and reductions in waste, including waste oil
   3. Strict management of chemicals and reductions in their disposal
4. We promote environmentally conscious activities in the home business.
   
   1. Promotion of environmentally conscious mind in R&D works
   2. Development and offer of environmentally conscious products
   3. Promotion of environmentally conscious mind in service business
   4. Promotion of green procurement
5. We will keep periodical contact with the community to maintain partnership in environment protection.
6. We will positively disclose our efforts towards environment protection through the publication of environmental reports.
7. We will educate employees to understand our environmental strategies and to increase their environmental awareness, which are to be converted into their everyday practices.
